Mini Ms. Friedl Letters

I did a GREAT home-school connection at the end of last school year. Because of the pandemic, my students and I changed to virtual learning for the remainder of the school year. In order to keep student engaged with our classroom and have some fun and memorable experiences with their teacher, I sent every student a letter, a mini Ms. Friedl (bitmoji), a small envelope with my return address (so they can write a letter back to me) and finally Adventures with mini Ms. Friedl Choice Board.

My students were SO excited to receive their letters and Mini Ms. Friedl’s. The first student to receive it, yelled for me to “WAIT!” before we were logging off one of our Live Lessons. She ran off, and came sprinting back to the computer holding her mini Ms. Friedl with the biggest smile on her face!

Look at that giant smile! She was SO excited! Then my other students started receiving theirs and I was sent some really fun pictures to share with the rest of the class.

These are just a few of the pictures that I received. My students were SO excited to share these experiences with me AND the rest of the class. This was an AMAZING way to continue sharing what was happening at home with the rest of our class. I am planning on starting our school year off with these mini Ms. Friedl’s again.

Hi! My name is Katie Friedl and I have taught Kindergarten in Chicago for 13 years. It is not always easy, but its worth it! I will be writing about by tips and tribulations about teaching K in Chicago. Stay tuned to be inspired (hopefully... crossing my fingers) and probably even get a little giggle... at my expense I'm sure!
